MechWarrior 2
MechWarrior 2 is a 1995 vehicle simulation game developed by Activision, set in the BattleTech universe during the war between the Clans. Players pilot towering bipedal war machines called BattleMechs, customizing their loadouts of energy, ballistic, and missile weapons in a detailed mech lab, then managing heat, armor, and targeting through a series of tactical first-person combat missions.
Its immersive cockpit simulation, deep customization that forced trade-offs between firepower and heat buildup, and atmospheric presentation, complete with a moody, dynamic soundtrack, made it a defining entry in the mech-combat genre. The weighty, deliberate sense of piloting a massive multi-ton machine, where legs and torso could turn independently, set it apart from faster-paced action games.
