Transport Tycoon is a 1994 business simulation game developed by Chris Sawyer. Players build and manage a transportation empire across an isometric map, laying railways, roads, air routes, and shipping lines to move passengers, mail, and freight such as coal, oil, and goods profitably between industries and towns while competing against rival companies.
Its deep economic simulation, satisfying network-building, and open-ended play made it a beloved classic of the tycoon genre. The detailed interplay of supply, demand, vehicle scheduling, and infrastructure, along with the way efficient routes helped towns grow, rewarded careful planning and gave the game tremendous longevity and replay value.
