Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament is a 1999 first-person shooter developed by Epic Games. Built around fast, competitive multiplayer, it pits players against one another and against remarkably capable bots across a range of arenas and game modes, from classic deathmatch to Capture the Flag, Domination and the objective-based Assault.
The game was praised for its tight, high-speed action, distinctive weapons that each offered primary and secondary fire, and excellent bot AI that made offline play against computer opponents genuinely engaging and useful for practice. Its strong multiplayer, extensive mod support, in-game announcer calling out multi-kills and spree streaks, and polished maps made it a fixture of competitive PC gaming and a fierce rival to Quake III Arena.
Unreal Tournament helped define the arena shooter and popularized the influential Unreal Engine that would power countless later games. The original and its sequels are available through digital storefronts and community efforts that keep the multiplayer alive.
