Age of Mythology
Also known as AoM
Age of Mythology is a 2002 real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios, a spin-off of the acclaimed Age of Empires series that trades pure history for the myths and legends of the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse.
Players gather resources, build settlements, and raise armies in the familiar age-advancing structure, but the defining twist is divine favor, a special resource that lets them worship a chosen major god and pick minor gods at each new age, unlocking devastating god powers such as earthquakes and meteor strikes and mythological units like Minotaurs, Cyclopes, and giant serpents. These choices meaningfully shape each civilization's strengths, technologies, and available forces, adding strong replay variety.
Well received for blending accessible, polished strategy with imaginative mythological flavor and a full campaign, it earned a devoted community and an expansion adding an Atlantean culture. A remastered edition has been released for modern systems with updated visuals and additional content, making it easy to command gods and monsters today.
