Chris Sawyer's Locomotion
Chris Sawyer's Locomotion is a 2004 business simulation developed by Chris Sawyer, the designer behind Transport Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon. It was conceived as a spiritual successor to Transport Tycoon, challenging players to build and run a profitable transport empire from the dawn of the railways onward.
The game let players construct networks of railways, roads, ships, and aircraft to move passengers, mail, and goods across detailed landscapes, all rendered in the crisp isometric style Sawyer was known for from his earlier titles. Players had to manage station placement, signalling, and scheduling to keep cargo flowing profitably while competing with rival companies, and vehicles gradually became available as technology advanced through the decades.
While it lived somewhat in the shadow of the beloved Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Locomotion remains a solid entry for logistics enthusiasts. It is still available on digital storefronts for those seeking classic transport simulation.
