Star Fox 64

Star Fox 64 is a 1997 rail shooter developed by Nintendo EAD for the Nintendo 64, known as Lylat Wars in some regions, putting players in the cockpit of an Arwing fighter as ace pilot Fox McCloud and his squadron defend the Lylat system from the mad scientist Andross.

Most stages guide the ship along set paths as players blast enemies, dodge obstacles, perform barrel rolls to deflect fire, and take down massive bosses, while branching routes triggered by in-game performance create alternate paths and multiple endings that add replay value. It was famously bundled with the Rumble Pak, introducing many players to force-feedback vibration, and its fully voiced, wisecracking characters and radio chatter became iconic.

Widely regarded as the high point of its series, it delivered polished, exciting arcade-style action and endlessly quoted one-liners. It has been remade for a later handheld and re-released on subsequent Nintendo hardware and subscription services, giving new players a convenient way to fly with the Star Fox team.
