Blood
Blood is a 1997 first-person shooter developed by Monolith Productions and published by GT Interactive on 3D Realms' Build engine. Players take on the role of Caleb, a gunslinger betrayed and killed by the cult of the dark god Tchernobog, who rises from the grave to hunt down his former masters and take his revenge.
The game reveled in a gruesome, horror-movie atmosphere, arming Caleb with weapons such as a sawed-off shotgun, a flare gun, sticks of dynamite, an aerosol-can flamethrower, and a life-leeching voodoo doll, while filling its levels with cultists, gargoyles, zombies, and countless references to horror films and literature. Sharp, atmospheric level design and Caleb's constant stream of quips, many quoting classic movies, made it one of the most beloved of the Build-engine shooters despite its notorious difficulty.
