Falcon 4.0 is a 1998 combat flight simulation developed by MicroProse, a studio renowned for hardcore simulations. It puts players in the cockpit of an F-16 Fighting Falcon within a dynamic, living war campaign set on the Korean peninsula.
Famous for its extraordinary depth, it modeled complex avionics, radar, weapons systems, and flight behavior in exhaustive detail, and its standout dynamic campaign ran an entire air and ground war that evolved independently of the player, generating missions organically. Its notoriously steep learning curve, supported by a huge printed manual, rewarded dedicated pilots with unmatched realism for its time. Despite a buggy, troubled launch, it earned a legendary reputation among simulation enthusiasts.
