Frogger
Frogger is a 1981 arcade game developed by Konami. Players guide a frog across a busy multi-lane road and a hazardous river, dodging speeding traffic and leaping across floating logs and the backs of turtles to reach five safe homes at the top of the screen before time runs out.
The game was a classic test of timing and pattern recognition, with escalating difficulty as later stages sped up the traffic and added hazards like snakes and diving turtles. Its simple premise, single-screen layout and addictive, high-score-driven challenge made it an enduring arcade favorite and a widely recognized early gaming icon.
Frogger remains one of the most recognizable games of the golden age of arcades. It has been re-released and reimagined many times, and can be enjoyed today through numerous arcade compilations and modern versions.
