Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker
Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker is a 1991 snooker simulation developed by Archer Maclean, a respected British programmer, and endorsed by the famous professional snooker player. It brought remarkably realistic cue-sports action to home computers.
The game featured smooth, freely rotating 3D table views and physics that convincingly captured the feel of real snooker, letting players finely control aim, spin, and power with precision uncommon for the era. Its polished presentation, practice options, and genuine playability made it a celebrated sports title on the Amiga, Atari ST, and other systems, and it was widely praised at the time as one of the best snooker games available.
A sequel, Jimmy White's 2: Cueball, followed years later, and the original remains fondly remembered as a classic of home-computer sports simulation.
