Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance: Fall of Man is a 2006 first-person shooter developed by Insomniac Games, a flagship launch title for its console set in an alternate-history 1951 where a mysterious alien menace overruns Europe. Players fight as American soldier Sergeant Nathan Hale against the invading Chimera as they sweep across a devastated Britain.
The game blended conventional and exotic alien weaponry into an inventive arsenal, including the Bullseye that tagged targets and the Auger that fired rounds through walls, letting players tackle enemies in creative ways reminiscent of Insomniac's earlier work. Its bleak, atmospheric alternate-history setting, lengthy campaign playable cooperatively, and large-scale online multiplayer supporting many players helped establish the console's early shooter credentials with a distinctive science-fiction war.
Resistance launched a well-regarded trilogy on its platform along with handheld spin-offs. The original remains a notable piece of its console's early library, remembered for its imaginative weapons and grim wartime tone.
