TimeSplitters 2

TimeSplitters 2 is a 2002 first-person shooter developed by Free Radical Design, a fast, irreverent console shooter built by former members of the team behind the classic Rare shooters GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, whose spirit it clearly inherits.

Its story mode sends players hopping across wildly different time periods, from the Wild West and 1920s Chicago to a neo-Soviet base, a Victorian mansion, and a Siberian dam, each rendered in a distinct visual style, and each level scales in size and objectives with the chosen difficulty. The real draws, however, are its deep multiplayer, packed with numerous modes, configurable bots, and an enormous roster of over a hundred unlockable characters, plus a robust Map Maker that let players build and share their own arenas.

Celebrated for its speed, humor, tight controls, and remarkably generous content, it became a cult favorite and a staple of local split-screen multiplayer. The series is fondly remembered, and its influence persists in arena-style and couch-co-op shooters.
