Grim Fandango
Grim Fandango is a 1998 adventure game developed by LucasArts and directed by Tim Schafer. Set in a stylish Land of the Dead inspired by Aztec mythology and film noir, it follows travel agent Manny Calavera, a skeletal grim reaper, through a four-year journey of intrigue, corruption, and redemption as he uncovers a scam denying souls their rightful passage to eternal rest.
Notable as one of LucasArts' first fully 3D adventures, built on the GrimE engine, it paired memorable characters, sharp writing, a jazzy soundtrack, and a distinctive art-deco aesthetic with inventive puzzles.
