Sam & Max Hit the Road
Sam & Max Hit the Road is a 1993 point-and-click adventure game developed by LucasArts, based on Steve Purcell's comic characters. Players guide the deadpan dog detective Sam and his hyperkinetic, unhinged rabbit partner Max on a surreal cross-country road trip to find a missing Bigfoot who has escaped from a roadside carnival.
Bursting with absurd humor, quirky roadside Americana like the world's largest ball of twine, and inventive puzzles, it captured the anarchic spirit of its source material and became a beloved LucasArts classic. Built on the SCUMM engine with a streamlined verb interface, its freewheeling comedy, oddball inventory items, and memorable locations gave it a personality unlike anything else in the genre.
The duo's adventures continued in later episodic games from a different studio, and the original remains available digitally, letting new players enjoy one of adventure gaming's funniest outings.
