Adventure
Adventure is a 1980 action-adventure game developed by Atari for the Atari 2600, created by Warren Robinett and inspired by the text game Colossal Cave Adventure. Players guide a small square avatar through a connected world of rooms and castles, collecting keys to open colored gates, wielding a sword to battle three dragons, and using items like a bridge and a magnet to retrieve an enchanted chalice and return it to the golden castle.
Widely regarded as the first graphical action-adventure game and a direct inspiration for the genre, it translated the concept of room-to-room text exploration into a navigable, object-driven graphical world. It is also famous for containing one of gaming's first well-known Easter eggs: a hidden room displaying "Created by Warren Robinett," slipped in because Atari did not credit its programmers at the time.
Adventure holds a landmark place in gaming history and remains available through Atari compilations, celebrated both for pioneering its genre and for launching the tradition of hidden in-game messages.
