Mega Man X
Mega Man X is a 1993 action-platformer developed by Capcom, a darker reimagining of the Mega Man series for the Super Nintendo set roughly a century in the future. Players control the reploid hero X as he battles the rogue robots known as Mavericks and their leader Sigma across fast, action-packed stages, again earning each defeated boss's special weapon.
The game modernised the formula with new abilities like dashing and wall-jumping that gave X far greater mobility, along with hidden upgrade capsules left by his creator Dr. Light that permanently enhance his armour, health, and powers. Its faster pace, deeper mechanics, interconnected stage effects where beating one boss altered another's level, and a famous secret Hadouken move brought fresh energy to the classic weapon-swapping structure.
Mega Man X is regarded as one of the finest action games on the Super Nintendo and spawned its own long-running sub-series. It has been re-released in numerous Capcom collections and remains readily accessible.
