Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot is a 1996 platformer developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation. Players guide the marsupial hero through jungle, temple and factory stages, smashing crates, collecting Wumpa fruit and dodging hazards to thwart the mad scientist Doctor Neo Cortex.
The game blended traditional platforming with a distinctive mix of into-the-screen, side-scrolling and chase sequences, showcasing colorful 3D visuals that pushed the console's hardware. Collecting every crate in a level and avoiding deaths earned coveted gems, adding a completionist challenge, while bonus rounds and boss battles broke up the tightly designed stages. Its energetic personality and expressive animation helped establish Crash as an unofficial mascot for the PlayStation.
The character became a defining face of the platforming genre in the era and headlined numerous sequels and spin-offs. The original games have been rebuilt in a modern remastered collection, letting players enjoy the classic adventures with updated visuals on current platforms.
