Star Wars: X-Wing
Star Wars: X-Wing is a 1993 space combat simulation developed by Totally Games and published by LucasArts, and it let players finally pilot Rebel Alliance starfighters against the Galactic Empire. It brought cinematic dogfighting to the personal computer.
Flying from an immersive cockpit view, you manage laser and engine power, shield balancing, and targeting while completing structured mission campaigns, escorting transports, and dueling TIE fighters and capital ships in tense, tactical space battles. Its blend of genuine simulation depth, careful energy management, and beloved Star Wars fantasy made it a landmark licensed game and a defining space-combat experience that set it apart from simpler arcade shooters.
It spawned a celebrated series including TIE Fighter and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and the classic games have been re-released on modern platforms, with entries later adapted for virtual reality.
