Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Also known as Uncharted 1
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a 2007 third-person shooter developed by Naughty Dog, introducing treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he chases the lost fortune of El Dorado, supposedly linked to his ancestor Sir Francis Drake, to a mysterious jungle island. It blended cinematic adventure with cover-based gunplay.
The game mixed acrobatic climbing and exploration, light puzzle-solving, and third-person firefights, all wrapped in a witty, film-inspired narrative with strong motion-captured performances and constant banter among a small cast. Its lush, detailed environments and set-piece pacing evoked pulp adventure serials, establishing a template Naughty Dog would refine and expand across its sequels. The relationship between Drake, mentor Sully and journalist Elena grounded the spectacle.
Uncharted grew into one of PlayStation's signature franchises and helped popularize the polished cinematic action-adventure. The original has been remastered in a collected trilogy, so newcomers can easily experience where Drake's globe-trotting journey began.
