Rayman
Rayman is a 1995 platformer developed by Ubisoft, a beautifully hand-drawn 2D side-scroller starring a limbless hero, his hands and feet floating freely, who fights to restore harmony to a whimsical, imaginative world after the theft of the Great Protoon.
The game was celebrated for its lush, colorful artwork and fluid animation, the vision of designer Michel Ancel, but equally known for its considerable difficulty, demanding precise platforming and patience to free the captured creatures scattered across its varied, surreal stages. Gradually acquired abilities such as the telescopic-fist punch and helicopter hair-spin expanded the hero's moveset as the adventure progressed.
Rayman grew into a long-running series spanning both classic 2D and 3D adventures, later revived to acclaim in hand-crafted 2D form, and the original remains available through digital re-releases, letting new players experience the charming platformer that started it all.
