Elevator Action
Elevator Action is a 1983 action game developed by Taito in which players control a spy infiltrating a thirty-storey building full of enemy agents. Descending from the roof, the spy must enter all the marked red doors to collect secret documents while riding elevators and escalators down to reach the getaway car waiting in the basement.
The game blended shooting, platforming, and light stealth, letting players jump-kick foes, shoot out ceiling lights to darken rooms, and crush pursuing enemies by dropping an elevator on top of them. Managing vertical movement through the building's crisscrossing shafts, timing rides to avoid being trapped, and eliminating the persistent black-suited agents gave it a tense, tactical rhythm distinct from other action games of its day.
Elevator Action became a well-loved arcade and home title and later received sequels such as Elevator Action Returns. The original remains available through Taito retro collections and emulation, preserving its clever mix of espionage and action.
