Rampage
Rampage is a 1986 action game developed by Bally Midway in which up to three players control giant monsters, George the ape, Lizzie the reptile, and Ralph the wolf, as they demolish cities across North America. The goal on each of the many days is to punch and climb buildings until they crumble, while eating people, food, and even other objects for health and swatting away the military, helicopters, and tanks that fight back.
The game turned the classic monster-movie fantasy into a gleefully destructive multiplayer romp, with players able to bite one another to steal health and monsters reverting to embarrassed humans when their health ran out. Its humour, replayability across dozens of real American and Canadian cities, and cooperative-competitive chaos made it a lasting arcade favourite that rewarded sheer destruction.
Rampage spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, and even a film adaptation. The original endures through retro compilations and emulation, still offering satisfying city-smashing fun for groups of players.
