Golden Sun

Golden Sun is a 2001 handheld RPG developed by Camelot Software Planning for the Game Boy Advance. It follows a group of young adepts who wield elemental Psynergy as they pursue villains seeking to relight ancient lighthouses and unleash the powerful, dangerous force of alchemy upon the world.

The game blended traditional turn-based combat with collectible elemental spirits called Djinn, which could be equipped to alter a character's class and stats or unleashed for effects and to power devastating summons, creating a flexible customization system. Environmental Psynergy puzzles, where players moved objects or manipulated the world outside of battle, and impressive full-screen summon animations showcased the handheld's capabilities.

Golden Sun was praised as a standout portable RPG and spawned a direct sequel that continued its story with imported save data. The original remains available through digital re-release services and is remembered fondly as one of the Game Boy Advance's premier role-playing experiences.
