Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos is a 1993 role-playing game developed by Westwood Studios, a first-person dungeon crawler set in a colorful fantasy realm threatened by the shape-shifting sorceress Scotia. Players choose a hero and lead a growing party through richly drawn locations on a quest to stop her.
Building on the studio's earlier grid-based crawlers, the game offered smooth real-time exploration, character progression tied to how skills were used, and combat, all wrapped in vibrant hand-painted environments and a more accessible, streamlined interface. Full voice acting in its CD-ROM version, including a notable performance by actor Patrick Stewart as the king, added personality to the adventure.
