Puzzle Bobble

Puzzle Bobble is a 1994 arcade puzzle game developed by Taito, also known as Bust-a-Move, starring the cute dinosaurs Bub and Bob from the Bubble Bobble series. Players aim and fire colored bubbles from a launcher at the bottom of the screen up into a growing cluster hanging above.

Matching three or more bubbles of the same color makes them pop, and any bubbles hanging beneath the cleared group also drop, so clever bank shots angled off the side walls let players reach awkward spots and trigger large chain collapses. Its simple aim-and-shoot concept, the tension of a ceiling that periodically descends toward the launcher, and cheerful presentation with an upbeat soundtrack made it instantly appealing and endlessly replayable, especially in competitive two-player mode.

Puzzle Bobble became a hugely successful arcade and home staple, spawning many sequels and countless imitators of its bubble-matching formula. It remains a widely recognized puzzle classic, ported and re-released across generations of hardware.
