Quest for Glory: So You Want to Be a Hero is a 1992 adventure game developed by Sierra On-Line. Originally released in 1989 as Hero's Quest and later remade with VGA graphics and a point-and-click interface, it blends adventure with role-playing as the player, an aspiring hero, arrives in the troubled valley of Spielburg to build a reputation by solving its problems and lifting a curse laid by an ogress.
The game let players choose among fighter, magic user, or thief, with each class opening different solutions to puzzles and encounters, and character statistics improved through use and carried forward into later entries in the series. Its fusion of genres, laced with humor, references, and genuine choice, made it a beloved and influential hybrid that few games matched at the time.
