Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors is a 1994 fighting game developed by Capcom, a monster-themed brawler that ran on the same CPS-2 hardware as Super Street Fighter II. Its cast drew on classic horror archetypes, including the vampire Demitri, the werewolf Jon Talbain, a mummy, a Frankenstein-style creature and the succubus Morrigan.
The game pushed vivid, exaggerated animation and introduced mechanics such as air blocking, chain combos and special-move-fueled meter management that would later influence Capcom's fighting output, including the Marvel vs. Capcom line. Its gothic-carnival art style, fluid sprites and eccentric characters gave it a bold identity, earning a passionate cult following even if it never reached Street Fighter's mainstream fame.
Darkstalkers has been preserved in Capcom collections and digital compilations, letting new players discover the imaginative, animation-rich fighter whose ideas and characters rippled through many later games in the genre.
