Fatal Fury: King of Fighters
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters is a 1991 fighting game developed by SNK for its Neo Geo hardware, created by designers who had worked on the original Street Fighter. It followed brothers Terry and Andy Bogard and Muay Thai fighter Joe Higashi as they entered a tournament to avenge their father against the crime boss Geese Howard.
The game introduced a distinctive two-plane system that let fighters shift between a foreground and background line to dodge attacks, adding a spatial dimension to battles rare in the genre. Its story-driven presentation, single-player focus and cooperative two-on-one boss fights helped distinguish it in a crowded field and launched one of SNK's flagship franchises.
