Fable
Fable is a 2004 action RPG developed by Lionhead Studios under Peter Molyneux, an adventure that follows a hero from childhood to adulthood in the storybook land of Albion, where the player's every choice shapes both their reputation and their physical appearance.
Its central idea is visible consequence: good and evil deeds change the hero over time, from a glowing halo and admiring crowds to horns, flies, and a darkened, feared aura, while combat scars and age also leave their mark. Beneath the ambition lies an accessible mix of melee, ranged, and magic combat, an experience system tied to those three styles, side quests, and light life-sim touches such as marriage, home ownership, and expressive social gestures to charm or intimidate villagers.
Though it did not fulfill every lofty promise made before release, it charmed players with its humor and character, sold well, and spawned a franchise. It was later re-released in an expanded Lost Chapters edition and on modern platforms, making it easy to experience today.
