Daytona USA
Daytona USA is a 1993 racing game developed by Sega AM2, a landmark arcade title running on Sega's Model 2 hardware. It delivered stock-car racing with texture-mapped 3D graphics that were remarkably crisp and colorful for the time, a major leap over the flat-shaded look of earlier racers.
The game supported large linked cabinets for multiplayer races and featured three tracks of varying difficulty, from the beginner oval to more demanding circuits with tight corners. Its exhilarating sense of speed, forgiving drift-friendly handling, and the famously catchy, cheerful vocal soundtrack made it one of the most iconic and beloved arcade racers ever made, and a fixture of arcades worldwide.
Daytona USA has been re-released in updated forms over the years and appears on digital storefronts, letting fans and newcomers experience the arcade racing benchmark that helped define the 3D era.
