Forza Motorsport is a 2005 racing game developed by Turn 10 Studios, an authentic driving simulator built to showcase a deep roster of licensed cars and real-world tracks on the original Xbox. It arrived as a serious console competitor to established sim-racing franchises.
The game offered detailed car physics with simulated tire wear and damage, extensive performance tuning and upgrade options, and a livery editor that let players layer decals to paint and share elaborate custom designs. Adjustable driving aids, difficulty settings and an AI "Drivatar" that learned the player's style made it approachable for newcomers while still satisfying dedicated enthusiasts chasing precise lap times and career progression.
Forza Motorsport launched a flagship franchise that grew into one of the most prominent names in racing, later joined by the open-world Horizon spin-offs. The original established the foundation of accessibility, customization and depth that has defined the series ever since.
