Project Gotham Racing is a 2001 racing game developed by Bizarre Creations, an Xbox launch-era title that blended realistic driving with an arcade-style reward structure across real-world city circuits in locations like London, Tokyo and San Francisco. It built directly on the studio's earlier Metropolis Street Racer.

Its signature "Kudos" system awarded points for driving with style, encouraging players to power-slide, drift, hit high speeds and race cleanly rather than simply cross the line first. Kudos could unlock new cars and events, so balancing flair against caution added a distinctive layer of skill atop otherwise grounded, licensed-car handling. The game showcased the new console's capabilities at launch.

Project Gotham Racing launched a well-regarded series that ran across several console generations and later added photo and geometry-based modes. The original helped establish an early home-console racing identity and remains fondly remembered for making stylish, expressive driving as rewarding as raw speed.
